To celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday 8th May, well over one hundred mothers had an unforgettable treat at the luxurious Hotel Laurena. The hotel provides a perfect venue for such an event, on this beautiful and friendly island of Carriacou.

The hall was packed as mothers were given an unforgettable treat in this top rated facility. Customers attending commented that the setting and environment is on a par with International five star hotels. Even the men accompanying the mothers had a fabulous time.

Mothers had a real treat on Mother’s Day with good food, great music, excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere

The food was delicious and exceeded everyone’s expectations. The menu was very diverse and catered for the different tastes of those attending this gala event.

As is customary at Hotel Laurena, the efficient and professional staff were on top form, providing an excellent service.

The occasion provided an opportunity for old friends to be reunited and for people to get to know one another better. Everyone had a wonderful feast followed by delicious desserts, while the in-house system played soft, delightful music. The venue is spacious with controlled air temperature providing a perfect environment for the occasion.

Former calypso Monarch, Anthony “Sugar Patch” Douglas, picked up the mic and rendered a sterling and moving tribute to all the mothers.

A Mother’s Day skit brought laughter and fun to the occasion. The music which was provided by the local string band, Harrison and the Boys, had people packing away the seats, as everyone took to the dance floor. Fleary on the violin was in awesome and magical form as the people took their partners to the spacious dance floor and enjoyed the wide variety of music.

Proprietor of the facility, George Andrew, expressed his deep appreciation to all who supported the event and went on to say that it had set the stage for the 2012 event.

All who attended signed the visitors book, which was a clear sign that when the 2012 event comes around they did not want to be left out, but sought another opportunity to have an even more fabulous time at the luxurious Hotel Laurena Hall.

Your special Mother’s Day Evening starts at 6:30pm with a packed program of events for a memorable evening. There will be a choice of two menus and the first 25 Mothers to arrive will receive a special Mother’s Day Gift from the Hotel Laurena!

Ladies and Gentlemen

Come and enter our dance auditions at Hotel Laurena. We are looking for two young ladies and two young gentlemen to take part in a dance group on Mothers’ Day in a show for the Mothers of Carriacou.

Dance Competition Dates

• Qualifying auditions take place 4pm to 7pm daily between 12th and 28th April 2010
• The semi-finals will be held on Friday the 23rd April at 6.30pm

The final will be held on Saturday 1st May at 7:30 pm.

Eligibility

• You must be between the ages of 16 and 24
• The dance style is either Soca or Calypso

Prizes

There will be prizes for the 4 persons who make it to the finals and these will be awarded on the 8th May 2010 at the Mother’s Day Event.
